REPLACING THE EJECT RIBBON CABLE

Sometimes your ribbon cable may become broken or just break loose from the connector on one end or the
other. It's fairly easy to replace or reconnect. Just use the procedure below.

This procedure is going to start with the top already removed. Since this has been covered so many times in this
book, you should have no problem getting the top off by now.
Depending on what your exact problem is will determine what part of this procedure you will need to do. The
procedure listed will take you through replacing the entire cable. If you just need to reattach one end then
jump to the step that deals with that particular end.
First you need to remove the cable from the eject/reset
button assembly. To do this you will need to remove
the assembly from the console cover. After you
remove the screws from the cover and have the cover
flipped over you will see the assembly (see picture)
Use a small bladed screwdriver to lift up on the back
of the assembly and it will come loose. Be careful
when pulling the buttons through the holes in the
console so that they do not get hung up and break.
