    Motherboard installation Before you install the motherboard, study the configuration of your chassis to ensure that the motherboard fits into it. The P4SDR-VM uses the micro-ATX form factor that measures 9.6 inches x 7.5 inches (24.5x19cm). Make sure to unplug the power cord before installing or removing the motherboard.

    Central Processing Unit (CPU) 2.4.1 Overview The motherboard comes with a surface mount 478-pin Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) socket. The socket is designed for the Intel Pentium 4 Processor in the 478-pin package with 512KB/256KB L2 cache on 0.13 micron process. This processor includes the Intel architecture that features the hyper-pipelined technology, rapid execution engine, 100 MHz system bus, and execution trace cache.

  • Page 30 2. Position the fan with the retention mechanism on top of the heatsink. Align and snap the four hooks of the retention mechanism to the holes on each corner of the module base. Make sure that the fan and retention mechanism assembly perfectly fits the heatsink and module base, otherwise you cannot snap the hooks into the holes.
