Power supply

Main power source
FT1020G3 Control Unit is normally powered by 150W switching mode power supply

In case of mains failure i.e. loss of 230V
batteries, i.e. two Sealed Lead-Acid batteries, 12V
and Table 17 to calculate the battery backup size as per section 28.2 page 178.
A space in FT1020G3 Control Unit is available for two Sealed Lead-Acid batteries, 12 V,
up to 24 Ah. Larger batteries may fit in the enclosure depending on equipment fitted and
the ASE required.
Larger batteries can be placed in additional battery box.
The batteries and the power supply are connected to the Main board 5010 (see drawing
F725 & F726), which also provide the charging current for the batteries.
Fuses F, F1 & F2: T6.3A H 250 V (5x20 mm Ceramic).
FT1020G3 is a very flexible system, i.e. number and type of loop units, number and type
of expansion boards, external equipment, etc. can vary from one Control Unit to another.

Charger functions

According to AS7240.4, section 5.3.1 b), the charger shall be designed and rated so that
a battery discharged to its final voltage can be recharged to at least 80% of its rated
capacity within 24 hours and to its rated capacity within another 48 hours.

Batteries of larger capacity than 65 Ah are possible to use but may not be recharged within
the prescribed time interval.
