Do NOT dilute or mix Lantus with any other insulin or ® solution. It will not work as intended and you may lose blood sugar control, which could be serious. Lantus ® must only be used if the solution is clear and colorless with no particles visible.

The recommended starting dose of LANTUS in patients with type 1 diabetes should be approximately subcutaneously once a day at the same time every day. The dose of LANTUS must be individualized one-third of the total daily insulin requirements. Short-acting, premeal insulin should be used to satisfy based on clinical response.
