5.3 Operation of the controls
5.3.1 Heaters without timers
The on/off switch is switched on at the start of the heating
period. The On position is marked l.
The switch marked •-•• (except PLX 050/ TI) provides a
choice of heat output: • half heat or •• full heat.
Thermostat
Selector Switch
The heater is fitted with an adjustable thermostat with
which the room temperature can be controlled by choosing
a suitable setting. The * setting represents a room
temperature of approximately 5 °C for frost protection.
Higher temperature settings range from 1 to 6 max.
The neon indicator light shows when the appliance is
actually heating.
5.3.2 Heaters with timers
The slide switch on the right beside the timer should be
switched on at the start of the heating period.
In the
position, the convector is controlled manually by
the operation of the thermostat.
The
position indicates automatic operation, i.e. the
convector is automatically switched on and off by the timer.
Setting the time of day:
Turn the timer clockwise until the actual time of day lines
up opposite the indication mark ▲ on the timer face.
Heater on: Pull appropriate segments out.
Heater off: Push appropriate segments in.
Each segment will provide heat for 20 minutes, so if
heating is required for a two hour period, 6 segments must
be used. The timer may be set to give as many "on"
periods of any length as may be required. The programme
will repeat itself every 24 hours. The thermostat ensures a
constant room temperature during the "on" periods.
Thermostat
Selector Switch
The automatic operation can be
overridden at any time by switching to
"manual" or "off".

6. Thermal cut-out

For your safety the convector is fitted with a thermal cut-
out. If the air circulation is restricted e.g. hanging
something over or blocking the air outlet grille, the heater
will switch off automatically.

Timer Automatic/Off/Manual
On
6.1 PLX 050/TI - PLX 200/TI
Should the cut-out operate, determine the reason for
overheating (e.g. outlet grille obstructed) before resetting
the cut-out. To reset the cut-out switch off or unplug the
heater for about 15 minutes, after which time normal
operation may be resumed.
6.2 PLX 250 and PLX 300
The heater will cool sufficiently about 15 minutes after the
removal of the obstruction, and can be brought back into
operation by gently pressing the reset button of the thermal
cut-out on the left rear of the heater.
In order to maintain its full heating capacity, it is necessary
to keep the air inlet and outlet openings dust free. The
heater should be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner before
each heating season.
7. Faults
If the convector is not heating, check whether the heater is
switched on and the thermostat knob is set to a high
enough position. Check that it is switched on at the
distribution board and that the fuse is intact.
If so, contact your electrical installer. Give him the E-Nr.
and FD for the heater. You will find this on the rating label
on the back of the heater.
