Carefully remove the hexnut andwasher whichsecures t he hexshaftto
the snowthrowerframeandNghtly tap the shaft'sendto dislodge the ban
bearing fromthe rightsideofthe frame.SeeFigure 35.
NOTE: Becareful n ot to damage the threads onthe shaft.

Carefully positionthe hexshaftdownwardandto the [eft before carefuNy
slidingthe frictionwheelassembly off the shaft.See Figure 36.
NOTE: If you'rerep[adngthe frictionwheelassembly asawhole,discard the
wornpartandslidethe newpartontothe hexshaft.
8.
FoNow the stepsaboveinreverse orderto reassemble c omponents.
9.
Perform the test previously described inthe DriveControl s ection.
Ifyou'redisassembling the frictionwheelandreplacing onlythe rubberring,
proceed asfoNows:
NOTE: Notall frictionwheels areserviceable. If thisisthe case, s implyreplace the
frictionwheelassembly.

Remove t hefour screws whichsecure the frictionwheel'ssideplates
together.SeeFigure 37.
2.
Remove t he rubberringfrom betweenthe plates.
3.
Reassemble thesideplateswith anewrubberring.
NOTE: W henreassembling t hefriction wheelassembly, m akesurethat the
rubberringiscentered andseated properlybetweenthe sideplates. T ighten
eachscrewonlyonerotationbefore turningthe wheelclockwise and
proceeding with the nextscrew.Repeat this process s everal timesto ensure
the platesaresecured with equalforce(between6ft-[bsand9ft-[bs).
4.
Slide the frictionwheelassembly b ackontothe hexshaftandfoNow the
stepsabove in reverse orderto reassemble c omponents.
5.
Perform the test previously described inthe DriveControl s ection.
