Introduction LGC’s Science and Technology Division acts as the designated UK National Measurement Institute (NMI) for Chemical and Biochemical measurement and has a long history in the development and validation of analytical methods and the production of reference materials. Many of the analytical methods used to characterise the reference materials are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 (Requirements for the competency of testing and calibration laboratories) and have been verified through participation on key comparison studies organised by the Consultative Committee for the Amount of Substance (CCQM) of the International Weights and Measures Organisation (BIPM).
