SECTION 13: LANDING GEAR INSTALLATION

STEP 1: INSTALLING THE LANDING GEAR WIRES
STEP 2: INSTALLING THE WHEELS AND STRUT COVERS
YOU'LL NEED THE FOLLOWING PARTS FROM THE KIT:
YOU'LL NEED THE FOLLOWING TOOLS AND SUPPLIES:
Insert the 90º bend in each of the landing gear wires into the
predrilled hole in each mounting slot and push the landing gear wires
firmly down into the slots.
IMPORTANT
that they are angled forward. When viewed from the top, the axles
should be just about even with the leading edge of the wing.
Working with one landing gear wire for now, position one nylon
mounting strap over the landing gear wire. Space the center of the
mounting strap 1/2" in from the wire strut.
While holding the nylon mounting strap in place, mark the locations
of the mounting screws onto the wing.
Drill two 1/16" diameter pilot holes through the wing at the marks
you drew.
Install the nylon mounting strap, using two M2 x 8mm wood screws.
Repeat the previous procedures to install the second nylon mounting
strap over the other landing gear wire.
Slide one main gear wheel onto each axle and secure the wheels
into place, using one wheel collar and grub screw.
Tighten the grub screws firmly, then double-check that both
wheels spin freely.
