Accessing Internet through Cable Modem

Some people prefer to access the Internet through the cable modem. Many local cable TV
companies offer cable modems to their customers for Internet access. You can check with your
local cable TV providers for the price, transmission speed, connection information, service
terms, etc.
As is the situation with DSL service, cable companies normally will help the cable modem
subscriber install the cable modem, give Internet account and password to the subscriber. The
cable modem is installed in between the computer and the cable. Cable modem providers will
provide all the required accessories for the Internet access. Make sure you record your Internet
account ID and password carefully for future reference.
After the cable modem has been connected to your computer, you have to install the software
which is required to "drive" your modem. The installation software is pretty easy to install and
executes automatically. During the installation process, the system will request you enter your
Internet account ID and password.
After the software installation process has been completed, you have to restart the system in
order to surf on the Web. The first time you restart your computer after the installation, you will
see a cable modem access icon on the screen of your computer. After clicking that icon, you
will go through the Internet on-ramp to the Internet highway. If you cannot access the Internet,
consult your cable access service provider.
