    Introduction To ensure proper use of this product, please read this Owner’s Manual carefully and retain for future reference. This manual provides information on the operation and maintenance of your Combi Home Theater System. Should the unit require service, contact an Authorized Service Center.

    Types of Playable Discs (8 cm / 12 cm disc) DVD audio discs (8 cm / 12 cm disc) Audio CD (8 cm / 12 cm disc) In addition, this unit plays DivX files, DVD -R, DVD +R, DVD -RW, DVD +RW, and CD-R / CD-RW that contains audio titles, MP3, WMA, and/or JPEG files.

    Disc-related terms DVD ±R / DVD ±RW DVD -R and DVD +R are two different standards for recordable DVD drives and discs. This format allows information to be recorded onto the DVD disc only once. DVD +RW and DVD -RW are two standards for re-writable media, meaning the DVD content can be erased and re-recorded.

    Connecting to a TV Make one of the following connections, depending on the capabilities of your existing equipment. RF COAXIAL CONNECTION Connect the RF.OUT jack on the Home Theater System to the antenna in jack on the TV using the 75-ohm Coaxial Cable supplied (R).

    Accessory Audio/Video (A/V) Connections to Home Theater System Connect the VCR IN LINE 1 or VIDEO/AUDIO(L/R) jacks on the Home Theater System to the AUDIO/VIDEO OUT jacks on your accessory component, using the optional audio/video cables. If the auxiliary devices (e.g. DVD) are equipped with OPTICAL OUT jack, connect them to the OPTICAL IN jack of the Home Theater System.

    HDMI Connection If you have a HDMI TV or monitor, you can connect it to this Home Theater System using a HDMI cable. 1. Connect the HDMI OUT jack on the Home Theater System to the HDMI jack on a HDMI compatible TV or monitor (H).

    Speaker System Connection Connect the speakers using the supplied speaker cables. To obtain the best possible surround sound, adjust the speaker parameters (volume, distance, etc.). Notes: Be sure to match the speaker cable to the appropriate terminal on the components: + to + and – to –. If the cables are reversed, the sound will be distorted and will lack bass.

    Setting the Clock The Home Theater System gives you two ways to set the time and date: the Auto Clock Feature or manually. The Auto Clock feature enables the Home Theater System to set up the clock while the Home Theater System is turned off.

    Initial Settings By using the Setup menu, you can make various adjustments to items such as picture and sound. You can also set a language for the subtitles and the Setup menu, among other things. For details on each Setup menu item, see pages 25 to 28.     VCR Operation Normal Playback Preparation: Turn on the TV. Tune the TV to the Combi Receiver output channel (CH 3 or 4) or set the TV’s source selector to VIDEO. If a direct VIDEO connection is made between the Combi Receiver and the TV, set the TV’s source selector to VIDEO.

    Normal Recording Preparation: Turn on the power of both the Home Theater System and Tune the TV to the Home Theater System output channel (CH 3 or 4) or set the TV’s source selector to VIDEO. If a direct VIDEO/AUDIO connection is made between the Home Theater System and the TV, set the TV’s source selector to VIDEO.

    10. Use V to choose the SPEED option. Use b/B to choose the desired recording speed (AUTO, SP or SLP). AUTO mode determines how much tape is left and switches speed from SP to SLP, if necessary, to complete recording the program. There will be some picture and sound distortion at the point of the speed change.

    Instant Timer Recording Instant Timer Recording allows you to make a recording easily of a preset length without using the programmable timer. Preparation: Turn on the power of both the Home Theater System and the TV. Be sure the TV is tuned to the Home Theater System output channel (3 or 4).
