The REN is useful to determine the quantity of devices you may connect to your telephone line and still have all of those devices ring when your telephone number is called. In most, but not all areas, the sum of the REN’s of all devices connected to one line should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number of devices you may connect to your line, as determined by the REN, you should contact your local telephone company to determine the maximum REN for your calling area.

GETTING STARTED Step 1: Checking the Package Contents Your new PH-5595 Caller ID telephone has all the features of a 13 memory telephone plus Caller ID display and call waiting functions. As you unpack this set, make sure you have the following items in the package.

You may need to set up the LCD contrast level, language, area code, time, date and dial mode for your telephone when you power your phone for the first time or when you move to an area that has a different area code. This is necessary because the phone must distinguish local or long distance calls to properly dial calls from the Caller ID list.
