Power Considerations

SDJ is designed to run on a standard 15-amp circuit with everything
plugged into the SDJ rack case.
If you are using amplified speakers greater than 600 watts each, you may
need to use a 20-amp circuit. If so, plug the speakers directly in to the
wall outlet. If there are only two 20-amp outlets, plug the SDJ rack case
in the top outlet, use a Y-outlet splitter in the other, and plug both
speakers into the splitter.
For bigger setups, we use a portable service box connected to a 220 volt
breaker in the main service. Usually 30, 50 or 100 amp. We like 220 volt
breakers because there are two 110 circuits, usually one for sound, one
for lights. A 30-amp 220 volt breaker will provide you with two 110 volt
circuits and 6600 watts of power (2 x 110 volts x 30 amps = 6600 watts)
