Design by sam HeCHt User manual 2. Getting Connected Connecting your LaCie hard disk is simple. Just connect the USB connector to a USB port on your computer. See sec- tion 3. Formatting and Partitioning when you have connected the Little Disk to your computer.
Please refer to the LaCieSync Getting Started Guide for installation details. To install pre-loaded software: When your LaCie hard drive is connected and has appeared on the desktop (Mac) or in My Computer (Windows), double-click on the drive icon to see its contents.
A message will appear, listing the devices the Eject icon controls (it should say, “Safely re- move...”). Click on the LaCie hard drive in this prompt. This message will appear: “Safe to Remove Hardware” (or similar). It is now safe to discon- nect the device.

Check your files and folders to ensure that these types of characters are not being used. Ignore this message. The drive will remount to the desktop. LaCie drives conserve power by spinning down when you set your com- puter to sleep mode, and when the computer is “revived” from sleep, it does not give the drive enough time to spin up from its sleep mode.
Go into My Computer and look for an icon and drive letter as- signed to the LaCie drive. If the drive does not appear, follow the rest of the Troubleshooting tips to isolate the problem. See section 1.2, Minimum System Requirements mation.
