Introduction
Focus is fun, quick and dependable. It's
going to be like hanging out with your
new best friend, from spur of the moment
errands to 2,000-mile road trips.
Focus comes equipped with lots of cool
features – most are no-brainers, but
some may be new to you. So take a few
minutes to use this Quick Reference
Guide to familiarize yourself with your
Focus and enjoy the time you'll spend
with your new found friend.

Interior Features

Headlamp Control

This control is located to the lower left of your instrument
panel. The first position to your right controls your parking
lamps, the second position controls your headlamps. If your
vehicle is equipped with fog lights, pull the control switch out
one position to aid your visibility in fog, snow or rain.
Luggage Compartment Release

(if equipped)
Press the control to open the luggage compartment. (This
control won't work if the vehicle is traveling faster than 4 mph.)
Turn Signal + High Beam Control

Push the stalk down to activate your left turn signal, up to activate
the right turn signal. To use your high beams, pull the lever
toward you; to turn them off, pull the lever toward you again.
Check Engine Warning Light

This light is located to the lower left of your instrument cluster.
It illuminates when you start your engine; however, if it stays
on, it may indicate your fuel cap isn't securely tightened, your
vehicle is out of fuel or fuel quality is poor, or another condition
requiring attention exists.
Traction Control
(if equipped)

This system helps your vehicle make better use of available
traction, especially on slippery road surfaces. The system
defaults to ON, however, should you become stuck, try
switching the traction control system off. For more information,
please consult your Owner's Guide.
Hood Release

Pull the hood release handle toward you to release; open from
the latch under the front center of the hood and lift. Secure the
hood with the support strut; to close, replace the support strut
and lower the hood, allowing it to drop the last 8 to 12 inches.
Tripmeter

To keep track of the miles for individual journeys, press the
reset control.

Anti-Lock Brakes

(if equipped)
"ABS" provides enhanced security by detecting wheel lockup
in hard braking situations. The light (located on the lower right
of your instrument cluster) will illuminate when you start your
engine; however, if it stays on, continues to flash or fails to
illuminate, see your dealership's service department immediately. (It's normal for
wheels to accumulate brake dust. Clean them with Detail Wash, available from
your authorized Ford, Lincoln or Mercury dealer.)
Speed Control
(if equipped)

Make sure you're traveling at or above 30 mph and
press "SET ACC." To set a higher speed, press and
hold "SET ACC"; release when you've reached the
desired speed. To set a lower speed, press and
hold "COAST"; release when you've slowed to the desired speed. To return
to a previously set speed, press "RES" (you must be traveling above 30 mph).
To disengage, depress the brake pedal or the clutch pedal.
Windshield Wiper Washer

To mist your windshield, push and release the end of the control
quickly. For one wipe, move the lever down. For intermittent
operation, move the lever up one position and adjust the switch
to the desired speed. For normal wiping, move the lever up two
positions; move three positions for high speed. To wash the rear window
(if equipped); pull the lever toward you for intermittent wiping, pull further to
operate the washer.
Climate Control System

Temperature Control; turn left for cooler air, right for warmer.
Fan Speed; turn the controls left or right – higher numbers
provide increased airflow. If equipped with air conditioning, press
A/C to cool the vehicle.
NOTE: For maximum A/C, simultaneously
press both the "A/C" and the recirculated air buttons.
Clock

Press and hold "CLK" until the hour digit flashes; use the
volume control to adjust. Press and hold "CLK" again to set
the minutes, using the volume control to adjust. Press "CLK"
again to return to normal operation.
Windshield Defrosting / Defogging

To defrost/defog your windshield, set the temperature control
to the warmest setting. Select the defrost control and select a
fan speed of 2, 3 or 4. If equipped with a rear window defroster,
press the button to turn it on. It will turn off automatically after
14 minutes; or, press the button again once thin ice and fog have been cleared.
