Care and maintenance

Warning! Before opening up the welding machine, switch
it off, unplug it from the mains and put up a warning sign
to stop anybody inadvertently switching it back on again.
If necessary, discharge the electrolytic capacitors.
In order to keep your welding machine operational for years to
come, you should observe the following points:
- Carry out safety inspections at the stipulated intervals (see
the section headed "Safety rules")
- Depending on the machine location, but no less often than
twice a year, remove the side panels from the machine and
blow the inside of the machine clean with dry, reduced-blow
compressed air. Do not aim air-jets at electronic compo-
nents from too close a range.
- If a lot of dust has accumulated, clean the cooling-air ducts.
On water-cooled welding torches:
- Check that the torch connections are watertight
- Check the volume and quality of the coolant water (only top
up with clean coolant water)
- Keep an eye on the volume of coolant returning to the
coolant reservoir
Cause
Design dimensions of torch are not suf-
ficient for this task
Only on water-cooled machines: Water
through-flow is insufficient
Coolant level is too low
Constriction or foreign body in cooling
circuit
Coolant pump fuse is defective
Coolant pump is defective
Coolant pump is stuck
Fan is defective
Coolant pump is defective
Heat exchanger is dirty
Coolant is dirty
Coolant level is too low
Coolant pump is defective
51
Remedy
Respect the duty cycle and loading
limits
Check the coolant level, through-flow
rate, cleanliness of coolant etc.
Top up with more coolant
Remove the constriction or foreign body
Replace the coolant pump fuse
Replace the coolant pump
Remove the coolant pump fuse and -
using a suitable slot-screw screwdriver
inserted through the motor-shaft lead-
in - rotate the motor shaft. After this,
replace the coolant-pump fuse.
Replace the fan
Replace the coolant pump
Blow the heat exchanger clean with dry
compressed air
Empty the coolant reservoir using the
draining hose, and fill it up again with
new, clean coolant
Top up with more coolant
Replace the coolant pump
