Caring for the Camera
To ensure continued enjoyment of thiS Nikon product, observe the following precautions when storing or using
the deVice.
Handle the lens and all moving parts with care
The lens, monitor. and battery-chamber/memory card stot and lens covers are easily damaged.
Do
not use force.
force applied to the lens cover could cause malfunction or damage the lens.
Do
not point the lens at strong light sources for extended periods
AVOid framing the sun or other strong light sources for extended periods when uSing or storing the camera.
Intense light may cause deterioration In the image sensor, producing a white blur effen in photographs.
Turn
the product off before removing or disconnecting the power source

Avoid sudden changes in temperature
Sudden changes in temperature, such as occur when entering or leaVing a heated building on a cold day, can
cause condensation inside the
device. To
prevent condensation, place the device in a carrying case or a plastic
bag before exposing il to sudden changes In temperature.
Notes on the Monitor
· The monllor may contain a few pixels that are always lit or thaI do not light This does not indicale a
malfunctlon. Images lecorded using the product will not
be
affected.
· Cameras with CCO image sensors only: White 01 colored sHeaks may
be
visible when bright subjects arC' framed in (he
manito!. ThiS phEnomenon, known as ·smear: occurs when extremely bright light strikes the image sensor; it
is characteristic of image sensors and does not indicate a malfunction. Smear may also rake the form of partial
di~oloratlon
In the monitor during shooting. It does not appear in images recorded with the camera except in
the cases of movies and of images recorded with Multi-shO[ 16 selected for Continuous. When shooting in these
modes,

recommend that you avoid bright subjects such as the sun, reflected sunlight, and electric lights.
· Images In the monitor may be difficult to see in a brighl light
· The LCD mOnilor is ht by an LEO backlight. Should the monitor begin to dim or flicker, contact your Nikon-

• Cameras with OLEO monitors only: Due to the design of OLEO displays, prolonged or repeated display of a single
Image may burn the image into the display, resulting In decreased brightness or mottling in
some
areas of the
monitOI. Image data are not affected. ThiS phenomenon can be prevented by not setting monitor brightness
hIgher than IS absolutely necessary and by not displaying a Single image repeatedly or for long periods,
