    Hardware Vlinx MESP211 Modbus Gateway ETHERNET CONNECTOR Modbus Gateway models using 10BaseT/100BaseTX network connections use an RJ45 receptacle. SETUP AND CONNECTIONS Note: In this section devices to be connected to the Modbus Gateway’s serial connection are simply referred to as the “Modbus network”. CONNECTING THE POWER SUPPLY Connect a DC power supply to Modbus Gateway. Acceptable voltages are between 10 VDC and 30 VDC.

    Setup and Connections Vlinx MESP211 Modbus Gateway lines are differential pairs (A & B) in which the B line is positive relative to the A line in the idle (mark) state. Ground provides a common mode reference. When configured for 2-wire operation the connection supports one signal pair: Data B(+) and Data A(-) signal channels using half-duplex operation.

The default network configuration is to receive an IP address assignment from a DHCP server. DHCP controls whether or not a DHCP server is used to set the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway of the Modbus Gateway.

For Class D network (IP addresses 224.0.0.0 through 239.255.255.255) and Class E network (IP addresses 240.0.0.0 through 255.255.255.255), the subnet mask is ignored.

If there is not a DHCP server on your network, the Modbus Gateway will default to IP address 169.254.102.39.

To use this feature the Modbus Gateway's serial port must be connected to the serial port of a PC (using a null modem cable, RS-232 only).
