Connection
iBoost is a preamp level device and cannot power speakers
directly. It needs to be connected to an amplifier that can drive
speakers.
1. Connect your stereo source (iPod, iPad, smartphone,
MP3 player, laptop etc.) to the iBoost jack labelled
"INPUT".
2. Connect the iBoost output (either with the 3.5mm stereo
jack or the gold RCA jacks) to the boom box, car stereo,
amplifier and speakers. If you have a choice, always use
cords with the shortest possible lead lengths.
3. Connect the power supply using the included wall mount
adaptor. When connecting to a car or boat power
source, use an 12 VDC adaptor with a 2.1mm plug with
the center positive.
Operation
With the iBoost connected and powered up, make sure your
stereo source is turned on and playing and the amp you are
sending the signal to is also turned on. It may need to have the
correct source selected and volume turned up.
With the music playing try selecting the adjustable gain switch
on the iBoost. Select the lower gain first (button in) and try
adjusting the source volume (mid to high) and the amplifier
volume to low to mid positions. If the sound level is good,
enjoy!
If the volume is too low try turning the amplifier volume up but
not to maximum. If the volume is now good you are done.
It the volume is still too low, lower the amplifier volume press
the iBoost gain switch (button out) and turn up the amplifier
volume to a comfortable level.
If the volume is still too low turn the source volume up to
maximum.
