CUSTOMER TEST DIAGNOSTICS

The Customer Test is loaded from the diagnostic diskette that is

supplied to the customer. The purpose of the Customer Test

Diagnostics is to provide you with a set of tests to verify the

functionality of the AT&T Personal Computer 6300 modules. Each

test can be selected individually as needed. These tests include:

• Motherboard

• Color/Monochrome Video System

• Parallel Interface

• Serial Interface

• HDU and Controller

• Parallel Printer

• 8087 Math Co-Processor

• Video Option Board (DEB)

• Second HDU and Controller.

These tests allow customers to gain a degree of confidence in the

correct operation of the system and discriminate between

hardware and software problems. In many cases, it will be

necessary for Service Personnel to perform the System Test

Diagnostics in order to confirm the customer's diagnosis. An

explanation of error messages are provided at the end of this

chapter. For troubleshooting information associated with the

error messages, refer to Chapter 5, "MAINTENANCE."

Note: It is recommended that you make a copy of your

Customer Test Diagnostic Diskette. Save the original as a

backup master. Use the copy as the working Customer Test

Diagnostic Diskette.
