Model SCH-1 Heater Personal Safety To prevent injury follow these instructions. Do not operate or service equipment unless you are qualified. Do not operate equipment unless safety guards, doors, or covers are intact and automatic interlocks are operating properly. Do not bypass or disarm any safety devices.
Model SCH-1 Heater High-Pressure Fluids High-pressure fluids, unless they are safely contained, are extremely hazardous. Always relieve fluid pressure before adjusting or servicing high pressure equipment. A jet of high-pressure fluid can cut like a knife and cause serious bodily injury, amputation, or death. Fluids penetrating the skin can also cause toxic poisoning.
Clean, maintain, test, and repair equipment according to the instructions in your equipment documentation. Use only replacement parts that are designed for use with original equipment. Contact your Nordson representative for parts information and advice. Manual 12-11 108 151D...
Check your material MSDS or contact your material supplier for more information. If you must use halogenated hydrocarbon solvents, contact your Nordson representative for information about compatible Nordson components. If a system or any equipment in a system malfunctions, shut off the...
Model SCH-1 Heater See Figure 1. The Nordson SCH-1 heater is an electrically operated, 2. Description digitally controlled high-pressure fluid heater designed for use with the Select Coat system. Maximum operating pressure is 241 bar (3500 psi), although the Select Coat system requires much lower operating pressures below 5.9 bar (85 psi).
Model SCH-1 Heater Theory of Operation The following paragraphs describe the operation of the SCH-1 heater. The Heater See Figure 2. Fluid enters the input port and flows into the fluid passage body (2) within the fluid-heating reservoir. The heater cartridge (3) heats the fluid passage body, which is spiral grooved.
It is electrically connected to a RTD in the fluid passage body. Refer to Operation for a description of the various LEDs and keys on the temperature controller. Use the following information to install the SCH-1 heater. 3. Installation Mounting WARNING: Allow only qualified personnel to perform the following tasks.

Model SCH-1 Heater The following paragraphs provide procedures for disassembly, repair and 7. Repair assembly of the SCH-1 heater. These procedures should be performed by qualified personnel observing standard safety practices. Heat Limiter WARNING: Remove power, relieve fluid and air pressure, and allow heater to cool down before performing any maintenance.
Model SCH-1 Heater Heater Cartridge WARNING: Remove power, relieve fluid and air pressure, and allow heater to cool down before performing and maintenance. Failure to observe this warning may cause serious injury to personnel and/or damage to equipment. See Figure 2.
Model SCH-1 Heater Fluid Heating Reservoir WARNING: Remove power, relieve fluid and air pressure, and allow heater to cool down before performing any maintenance. Failure to observe this warning may cause serious injury to personnel and/or damage. Fluid Heating Reservoir Removal See Figure 2.
Model SCH-1 Heater Fluid Heating Reservoir Installation 1. Install the fluid-heating reservoir to the electrical enclosure. Use Teflon paste on threads to prevent galling. Tighten securely. 2. Make sure the holes for the setscrews are aligned. Back the fluid-heating reservoir out by no more than one turn to align holes.
Model SCH-1 Heater Fluid Passage Body 1. Remove the retaining rings from the fluid passage body. 2. Place a wooden block on a hard surface. Grasping the reservoir assembly firmly, strike the top of the surface of the fluid passage body against the wood block until the lower O-ring is exposed.
