Chapter 1: Installation instructions This Digital Video Recorder (DVR) may come with a hard drive pre-installed, please check your receipt before proceeding. If your DVR did not come with a pre-installed hard drive, please install one before trying to operate this DVR as this unit will not function correctly without a hard drive installed.
Chapter 2: Turning on your DVR Set the device on a sturdy and level surface; connect the power cord, USB mouse, and VGA monitor. You can also connect this device to a TV using a 6ft BNC Patch Cable (P/N: AW-BNC-6) and BNC to RCA adapter (P/N: ACA-BNC-7).

Chapter 4: Mouse operation Insert the USB connector on the end of the mouse into the USB slot on the DVR. Use the left click to confirm selection and the right click to bring up the mouse menu (see below), and to escape a selection or menu.
Chapter 5: Display icons and their meaning Pressing the “Display” key will hide or show different icons. Please see the explanation for these icons below. Video recording The green round icon indicates a normal recording event. symbol Video recording The yellow round icon indicates scheduled recording event. symbol Playing symbol Indicated that a recording is being played.
Chapter 6: Basic operation The setup menu contains all of the DVR settings as well as some management tools. To enter the main menu you must enter the correct password (default: 88888888) Menu operation Inside the main menu, you can navigate the menu system by using the [↑], [↓], [←], and [→] keys. You can also enter sub-menus and change settings by pressing the [menu] key or entering a numerical key to change settings directly.

6.1 Time adjust The time and date need to be set correctly so the time of a recorded event will match the real time. Enter the “Basic” menu by pressing the [menu] key, and then enter the “Time Adjust” sub-menu. Here you can input the correct time, then save your settings by clicking “OK”...

You can change the input method by pressing the [Menu] key on remote control or front panel, or clicking on the field again with a mouse. For example, to switch to numbers, change the input method to “123” and then press the [0-9] keys on the remote, front panel, or the popup number pad when using the mouse.
Chapter 7: Record configuration This unit supports three recording modes: Normal Recording, Schedule (Timer) Recording, and Alert Recording. 7.4 Alert recording When alert recording is enabled, this unit can detect a change at the sensor input lines. Once an alarm input has been triggered, this unit can perform different tasks depending upon how the user configures the alert settings. Keep in mind that sensor inputs can be set to either normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC).

To Configure Alert Record: Step 1: Select an alarm input Enter the “Alert” menu, and select “Alarm In”, you can now select whether this input is a normally opened (NO) or normally closed (NC) circuit. You can also set which alarm output will be triggered, as well as if there is a delay before the alarm output will trigger.
Chapter 8: Exception notification This unit is capable of notifying you that a major error has occurred. Those events are: • HDD Full: The Hard drive has become full • IP Conflict: Another device on the network has the same IP and is impeding network transmission •...

To bring up a recorded event: Step 1: Choose a channel: Select the channel you want to view recorded data on. If you want to back up an event, first view the file so you can find the start and end time of the event you are looking for. Step 2: Choose the date There are two ways to choose a date: 1) Click on the [- >] symbol to the right of the date, and a calendar will be displayed.

Chapter 12: Network configuration This DVR is capable of being viewed, configured and backed-up remotely over a network. To do so the network settings must be setup correctly. To configure the network, you must enter the main menu, and then navigate to “Network”.

• If you are connecting directly to a modem, you will not have to do any port forwarding. But keep in mind some ports are blocked by service providers. If you do not have business class service you will want to change the web port to something other than port 80 (we recommend port 8000), which is covered later in this manual.

This option will allow you to update the DVR software if an update is available. Before trying to update the DVR you MUST contact your distributor (Active Vision Inc. 631-585-0088). Upgrading the firmware could damage the devices and void your warranty, unless approved by your distributor. Firmware updates can be done via a USB device.
