Electronic Devices Limited do not recommend this method because the EVAC button on the repeater will not function. In the event of a communications fault the push buttons “EVACUATE”, “MUTE” and “RESET”, located on the ED816A I/O board, become operational (in normal operation they act only as lamp test buttons).
