thefollowing steps:
1.Turn offthegastothewater h eater atthemanual gasshut-
offvalve.
2.Open a nearby h otwater f aucet u ntil t hewater i s nolonger
hot.
3.Close thecold water i nlet v alve.
4. Connect a hose to thedrain valveandterminate it to an
adequate drain orexternal tothebuilding.
5.Open thewater h eater drain valve andallow allofthewater
todrain fromthetank. F lush thetank withwater a sneeded
toremove s ediment.
6.Close t hedrain valve, r efill thetank, a ndrestart theheater as
directed i nthismanual.
If thewaterheater i s going tobeshutdown foranextended
period, thedrain valve should b eleftopen.
IMPORTANT: Condensation may occur w hen refilling t hetank
andshould n otbeconfused witha tank leak.
