Refer to your Chassis Operator's Manual for infor-
mation on chassis service recommendations.
Have the coolant, the battery electrolyte, and the
engine oil levels checked each time when refueling.
NOTE:
Proper engine servicing and record of ser-
vicing may be mandatory to ensure chassis
warranty protection. Follow the manufac-
turer's instructions on periodic maintenance
checks.

Filter Replacement Recommendations
Replacement part numbers listed in this section
are based on the latest information available at the
time of printing, and are subject to change. If a part
listed in this manual is not the same as the part used
in your vehicle when it was built, or if you have any
questions, please contact your dealer or parts
supplier.
Be sure the part you use is equivalent to
the one replaced.
For 7.4 (454) gasoline engine:

Fuel Filter Replacement - Gasoline Engine
Your motor home is equipped with a large capac-
ity spin-on gasoline filter. The filter will be mounted
at either of two places depending on chassis wheel
base.
On 137-inch and 158-inch wheel base models, the
filter is located on the right hand (curbside) frame
rail to the rear of the right front wheel.
On 178-, 192-, and 208-inch wheel base models
the filter is located on the right hand (curbside)
frame rail to the rear of the right rear wheel.

Fuel Filter Replacement - Diesel Engine
Your diesel-equipped motor home has a multi-
function filter for solid contaminants and water. The
filter is mounted on the rear of the inlet manifold
under the air cleaner.
The fuel filter is easily removed and installed with
a screwdriver. To prevent spillage, drain fuel from
the filter by opening both the air bleed and water
drain valve. Drain fuel into an appropriate container.
To remove the filter:
1.
Remove fuel tank cap. This releases any
pressure or vacuum in the tank.
2.
Disengage both bail wires with a screw-
driver.
3.
Remove the filter.
4.
Clean any dirt off the fuel port sealing sur-
face of the filter adapter and the new filter.
5.
Install the new filter. Snap into position with
bail wires.
6.
Close the water drain valve and open the
air bleed. Connect a

ID hose to the air
bleed port and place the other end into a
suitable container.
7.
Disconnect fuel injection .pump shut off sol-
enoid wire.
8.
Crank engine for 10-15 seconds,. Wait one
minute for the starter motor to cool. Crank
engine again until clean fuel comes out of
the air bleed.
9.
Close the air bleed, reconnect the injection
pump solenoid wire and replace fuel tank
cap.
10. Start engine and let it idle for 5 minutes.
11. Check fuel filter for leaks.
