  • Page 7 Chapter 1. Introduction Equipment General The Simrad MS50 terminal provides access to the international dial- up telephone, facsimile and data networks via the Inmarsat 3 Spot Beam satellite system. The terminal comprises: • Simrad MS50 • Antenna Unit including RF transceiver (option).

  • Page 10 The SIM card (Subscriber Identity Module) carries subscription informa- tion from your Inmarsat Service Provider (ISP) or Net service provider on an integrated circuit. The Simrad MS50 used with the SIM card assumes the identity of the SIM card. The SIM card has its own set of numbers on which the user can be contacted irrespective of the Simrad MS50 used.

    Setting up General When connecting a PC to Simrad MS50, access is obtained to all its functions. With a VT100 compatible terminal emulator, such as Windows 95 – HyperTerminal the menu is displayed on the PC screen. Simrad MS50 also provides access to asynchronous data services through its built-in modem capability.
