Using The Recon Camera -
Field Setup
Direction for the Recon Camera
The.camera.should.always.point.away.from.the.sun,.if.possible ..This.will.give.the.best.
lighting.on.the.target.and.prevent.glare.from.getting.into.the.camera.lens ..If.you.are.
not.able.to.do.this,.try.not.to.point.it.directly.into.the.sun ..The.imager.can.be.damaged.
by.pointing.directly.at.the.sun,.and.the.images.will.appear.to.be.washed.out ..Keep.in.
mind,.the.changing.angle.of.the.sun.could.cause.camera.to.malfunction .
Above Ground Height
The.camera.should.be.about.the.height.of.a.deer.or.about.two.and.one.half.feet.
above.the.ground ..You.will.also.have.the.best.results.if.the.ground.is.level.and.the.
camera.is.pointing.parallel.to.the.ground ..This.will.give.the.best.range.and.the.most.
coverage.of.the.terrain ..The.best.results.will.occur.if.you.place.the.camera.on.a.trail..
or.rub.that.shows.signs.of.recently.being.used ..The.less.you.disturb.the.site,.the.
better.your.results.will.be.for.attracting.older.and.larger.game.animals .
Distance from Target
For.best.results,.try.to.place.the.camera.so.that.the.game.animal.will.be.20.to.30.feet.
from.the.camera.when.the.picture.is.taken ..This.will.ensure.that.there.is.enough.light.
and.that.you.will.get.a.full.picture.of.the.game.animal ..The.PIR.will.reliably.detect.the.
game.animal.and.there.should.be.plenty.of.pixels.and.light.on.the.target.so.that.the.
antlers.are.easy.to.see ..Images.taken.at.50.feet.will.have.less.detail.and.illumination ..
The.use.of.food./.bait.on.active.trails.or.rubs.can.help.position.game.animals.at.the.
desired.distances.from.the.camera .
(Use food/bait only where permitted)
Use on Trail
For.best.results.place.the.camera.so.it.is.aimed.down.the.trail.not.across.it ...
This.will.allow.the.camera.more.time.to.take.a.picture.of.the.animal.or.target .
