Unpack

Caution: Do not open ink cartridge packages until you are ready to install
the ink. Cartridges are vacuum packed to maintain reliability.
If anything is missing, contact Epson
in "Any questions?".
Remove all the tape.

Connect USB cable

Make sure the scanner
is open.

Connect the USB cable (not included) and route it through the slot.

  • Page 1 Start Here Unpack Caution: Do not open ink cartridge packages until you are ready to install the ink. Cartridges are vacuum packed to maintain reliability. If anything is missing, contact Epson as described on the back ® in “Any questions?”.

  • Page 2: Install Ink Cartridges

    Close the scanner. Note: Don’t connect the RX680 Series to the computer yet. Turn on the RX680 Series Connect the power cable. Press the On button. Install ink cartridges Note: Don’t load paper before installing the ink cartridges. Lift up the scanner.

  • Page 3: Load Paper

    Close the scanner. Press the OK button to charge ink. Charging takes about 2 minutes.   C aution: Don’t turn off the RX680 Series while the On light is flashing or you’ll waste ink. Load paper Rear sheet feeder Open the paper support and pull up its extension.
  • Page 4 Load paper against the right edge guide and behind the tab, with the printable side face up. Brighter or glossier side up 8½ x 11 4 x 6 or 5 x 7  N ote: Don’t load the paper sideways; always load it short edge first.

  • Page 5: Install Software

    OS X 10.2.8, 10.3.9 or later. ® Windows Make sure the RX680 Series is NOT CONNECTED to your computer. Note: If you see a Found New Hardware screen, click Cancel and disconnect the USB cable. You can’t install your software that way.
  • Page 6 When you see this screen, click the first option and then click Next, unless the RX680 Series is connected to your computer through an external print server. If you’re using an external print server, click the second option, click Next, then skip to step 6.
  • Page 7 When you see this screen, click Open the Printer List. Follow the steps on the right side of the screen to add the RX680 Series. Click Next again, if necessary. When you’re done, eject the CD. You’re ready to copy, print, and scan! See your Quick Guide or on-screen User’s Guide.
