Viewing the wide-screen picture formats

You can view programs in a variety of picture sizes.
If you are viewing a wide-screen (16:9 aspect ratio) format program,
Natural picture size is the recommended mode (see below).
If you are viewing a conventional (4:3 aspect ratio) format program,
you can select one of the following picture sizes, depending on your
preference; however, Theater Wide 1 is the recommended mode for
viewing conventional format programs (see page 36).

Selecting the picture size

1. Press PIC SIZE on the remote control.
2. Press the corresponding number button to select the desired
picture size (Natural, Theater Wide 1, Theater Wide 2, Theater
Wide 3, or Full), as described below and on the next page.

Natural picture size
(recommended for wide-screen 16:9 format pictures)
The Natural picture size displays a conventional (4:3) format picture
in its original 4:3 size, with black bars at the left and right (see
"Notice of Possible Adverse Effects on TV Picture Tube" at right).
The Natural picture size displays a wide-screen (16:9) format picture
in its original 16:9 size. Natural picture size is the recommended
mode for wide-screen format pictures.

Note:
If you select Theater Wide 2 or 3 for
conventional size programs, the top and
bottom edges of the picture may be hidden.
To see the hidden edges, either scroll the
picture (see page 37) or select Theater
Wide 1, which displays all of the picture (see
page 36).
NOTICE OF POSSIBLE ADVERSE
EFFECTS ON TV PICTURE TUBE
Avoid displaying stationary images on
your TV screen for extended periods of
time. Fixed (non-moving) images can
become permanently engrained in the
picture tube. This type of damage is
NOT COVERED BY YOUR WARRANTY
because it is the result of misuse.
