LONG-TERM STORAGE

Perfonn all stepslisted under
short-term storage.

Run engine t() normaloperat-
ing temperature. Operate air con-
ditioner to lubricate compressor
seals. Drain engine oil, replace
filter, refill engine with fresh oil.

Remove and store windshield
wiper blades.

Charge and remove vehicle,
auxiliary and generator batteries.
Store them in a cool, dry place.
Check the charge and water level
every 30 days. Check the specific
gravity of the electrolyte periodi-
cally with a hydrometer or boost
charge every three months. Re-
charge the battery when the spe-
cific gravity reaches 1.220. The
time it takes the battery to reach
1.220 depends on its condition
and the temperature. The colder
the storage area, the slower the
battery will self-discharge. Anor-
. mal time between charges is three
months ..

Remove, clean and replace air
conditioner filters. Cover the air
conditioner shroud(s).

Cover the windows on the in- .
side with foil, cardboard, paper,
etc., to reduce curtain, drape, and
carpetfadiQg.
o
Remove batteries in clocks or
other battery-powered devices.
o
Check

inflation pressures
every 30 days. Maintain maxi-
mum rated cold inflation pres-
sure.

Check the sealant around all
roof and body seams and win-
dows. Reseal if necessary. See
"Sealant Renewal" section of
the "EXTERIOR MAINTE-
NANCE" chapter.

Lubricate all locks and hinges
as described in the "EXTERIOR
MAINTENANCE" chapter .
