These servers are intended to be installed and secured in a rack. It is the customer's
responsibility to ensure that the server and rack installation are secure to prevent
sensitive data from being removed.
The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security
features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems
and communications facilities.

General product/system description
The System x3250 M2 servers are ultrathin, rack-optimized network servers using
industry-standard architectures. They contain two PCI-E x8 slots.
This uniprocessor, entry rack server delivers a solid range of performance by
combining Intel Pentium dual-core, Core 2 Duo and Xeon processors with high-speed
ECC memory, and EM64T.
The System x3250 M2 server uses the Intel chipset to optimize throughput from
processors to memory and to PCI-E bus.
Additional standard features include integrated SATA controller, an SVGA video
controller with 16 MB of video memory, Integrated Dual Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbps)
Ethernet controllers, and optical drive. All models are open bay models and support
hot-swap SATA or SAS HDDs and Simple-swap SATA HDDs.

Note: All models have 351-watt power supply and include a combination optical
drive.
System x3250 M2 server models provide memory expansion, two or four storage
bays, and two PCI-E expansion slots. A 351-watt voltage sensing power supply with
auto restart capability is standard.
• System memory can be expanded to 8 GB by installing a 2 GB DIMM option in
each of the four memory DIMM sockets.
• Three or five drive bays:
– One 5.25 inch slim-high bay contains optical drive
– Two 3.5-inch slim-high or four 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS bays
• Two PCI-E x8 expansion slots: One slot is full-height three-quarter length and one
slot is low profile
Note: One full-height three-quarter-length adapter in expansion slot 1 and one
low-profile half-length adapter in expansion slot 2. When the optional Remote
Supervisor Adapter II Slimline is installed in the server, you can install only a half-
