    Control Unit and Extended Range Receiver The IntelliGuard 8000 con trol unit must be in stalled in side the ve hi cle. Un der no cir cum stances should the unit be in stalled un der the hood or other simi larly hos tile en vi ron ment.
  • Page 7 Passenger Compartment Connections Brake Switch The brake switch connection is required for the operation of the IntelliGuard 8000’s anti-carjacking electronics. 1. Turn the ignition to the “ON” position and press the brake pedal to verify that the brake lights are operational.

    The IntelliGuard 8000 comes with two ergonomically designed remote controls: a 16-channel master remote and a 10-channel secondary “companion” remote. Up to two more ACG 2 remote controls can be added to the IntelliGuard 8000 system. Due to the ACG 2 feature on the IntelliGuard Series systems, older Clifford ACG and non-ACG remotes are not compatible with the IntelliGuard 8000.

    Digital Dual-Zone Proximity Sensor 4 The IntelliGuard 8000 is equipped with our unique Digital Dual-Zone Proximity Sensor that uses digital signal processing to detect movement inside the passenger compartment and very near the vehicle. If a thief were to break a window and either enter or lean into the passenger compartment, the primary zone of this sensor would trigger the full alarm.

    (you will hear 3 chirps). 5. Repeat the preceding steps as required. An improperly adjusted sensor will cause the IntelliGuard 8000 to false alarm or not respond properly to a genuine threat. Keep in mind that you may need to reposition the sensor, possibly after the customer has had the system for several days.

    Programmable Features IntelliGuard 8000 comes from the factory with its features preprogrammed as noted in bold text in the tables on pages 15 and 16. Some features can be programmed by the installer or the user, others can only be programmed only by the installer. There are two tables provided which define the user-programmable and installer-programmable features.

    Select the row and column number, then transmit the unused button on the other remote that you want to use to perform that function. The IntelliGuard 8000 will respond with the same number of chirps as the row number.

    System Checklist & Troubleshooting The fol low ing check list and trou ble shoot ing tips will as sure that you have in stalled the IntelliGuard 8000 cor rectly. If the sys tem does not re act as noted, fol low the trou ble shoot ing tip(s) de noted with a black box be low that item, then re peat the step. Each suc ces sive step re quires that the pre vious step has been com pleted as in di cated.
  • Page 15 Test the Im mo bi li za tion cir cuits. Arm the IntelliGuard 8000 (either from inside or outside the vehicle) and wait 10 seconds. Turn the ignition to the “ON” position. Engine does not respond. This is the correct response, proceed to the Immobilization test.
  • Page 16 WARN ING: If the doors do not lock, DO NOT ac ti vate the ve hi cle’s lock switches. If the locks have been mis wired, do ing so may dam age the IntelliGuard 8000 con trol unit, the ve hi cle’s elec tri cal sys tem and/or the power lock servo mo tors.
  • Page 17 1 of this sec tion. Check the IntelliGuard 8000’s 10- amp fuse. If the fuse blew when you dis armed, the ve hi cle uses a posi tive door trig ger and you con nected the in te rior light sup ply wire to ground in stead of +12 volts. Re place the 10-amp fuse and retest.
