This is normal. It is due to the initial heating of internal components. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS MODEL CKSTSM3887 ONLY • Your sandwich maker includes two sets of removable plates, one to prepare sandwiches and another one for grilling. -

CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH PLATES WITH YOUR HANDS OR OTHER MATERIALS THAT ARE NOT HEAT RESISTANT SUCH AS SPATULAS SINCE THE COOKING SURFACE WILL BE HOT. 7. When the sandwiches are cooked to taste, remove with a heat resistant spatula. NOTE: The cooking surfaces are coated with a durable non-stick coating. -
