When taking portrait photos. you generally want
to blur distracting background details. so that the
main subject stands out naturally from the scene.
Portrad lenses are fixed focal length lenses that
enable you to shoot at low F-number settings. where
background blurring is more pronounced That's why
a portrait lens can blur the background much more
effectively than a zoom lens of comparable focal length.
