T o c h e c k f o r p r o p e r t i m i n g , r o t a t e engine by hand u n t i l a loud c l i c k is h e a r d - - a t t h i s
i n s t a n t the DC m a r k on flywheel should be j u s t p a s t the c e n t e r of the t i m i n g s i g h t hole on
e n g i n e .
F o r p r e c i s i o n t i m i n g of the ignition s y s t e m u s e t i m i n g l i g h t .

A f t e r e a c h 5 0 0 h o u r s of o p e r a t i o n , the e n d c a p should b e r e m o v e d and the condition of the contact
points and c a r b o n b r u s h should b e checked.

To r e m o v e b r e a k e r a r m , r e m o v e b r e a k e r a r m t e r m i n a l s c r e w (which r e l e a s e s c o i l , con-
d e n s e r a n d g r o u n d l e a d s and b r e a k e r a r m s p r i n g ) then r e m o v e s n a p r i n g on f u l c r u m pin
a n d l i f t b r e a k e r a r m off pin.
2.
To r e m o v e c o n t a c t s u p p o r t b r a c k e t , r e m o v e two locking s c r e w s (including l o c k and p l a t e
w a s h e r s ) t h e n r e m o v e b r a c k e t f r o m b e a r i n g s u p p o r t .

R e v e r s e p r o c e d u r e t o r e p l a c e c o n t a c t s u p p o r t a n d b r e a k e r a r m .
a f t e r r e p l a c e m e n t .
T o a d j u s t c o n t a c t point gap u s e the following p r o c e d u r e :
L o o s e n the two locking s c r e w s on c o n t a c t s u p p o r t .

I n s e r t s c r e w d r i v e r b l a d e i n h o r i z o n t a l s l o t on s u p p o r t then s h i f t s u p p o r t (pivot blade
b e t w e e n two s m a l l b o s s e s ) u n t i l p r o p e r c l e a r a n c e of , 0 1 5 " ( m a x i m u m opening) is m e a s u r e d
b e t w e e n c o n t a c t s .

Magnetos a r e t i m e d t o the engine i n the f a c t o r y and r e t i m i n g should not be n e c e s s a r y u n l e s s m a g -

T u r n m a g n e t o g e a r i n c l o c k w i s e d i r e c t i o n (when f a c i n g g e a r e n d ) until i m p u l s e coupling

A f t e r s e c u r i n g m a g n e t o to h o u s i n g , t e s t b y t u r n i n g f l y w h e e l in c l o c k w i s e d i r e c t i o n until
i m p u l s e coupling t r i p s (loud c l i c k ) - - D C m a r k o n f l y w h e e l should b e j u s t p a s t c e n t e r m a r k
in s i g h t h o l e .
T o a d j u s t , l o o s e n two c a p s c r e w s o n m a g n e t o mounting f l a n g e and s h i f t
If the points a r e d i r t y , c l e a n with l a c q u e r t h i n n e r and
D i s c a r d old b r e a k e r a r m .
L o c k s u p p o r t i n p l a c e with two c a p s c r e w s then r e c h e c k c l e a r a n c e a f t e r
Use the following p r o c e d u r e f o r i n i t i a l t i m i n g of the s t a n d -
A f t e r coupling t r i p s , b a c k up s l i g h t l y ( t u r n i n c o u n t e r c l o c k -

C a r e f u l l y follow l i g h t m a n u f a c t u r e r ' s
