The Sonocaddie V500 serves as your own personal golf caddie, guiding you through each hole on the course to get the precise distance information for you to play your best.

Sonocaddie should not be used while driving any vehicle including golf carts. Always place Sonocaddie in a secure place to avoid any impact which could cause damage to it. The USB cable provided is solely for the use of Sonocaddie devices (see the accessory list).

Cautions: The Sonocaddie may take at least 10-15 minutes to receive satellite signals after you turn it on. This may take longer if the devise has been off for more than four hours, or if it is more than 100 miles away from where you last used the Sonocaddie.

GPS equipment. Sonocaddie has a built-in GPS antenna at the top of the device. This antenna should face upward to gain the best signals and should not be covered with anything as this may affect the quality of reception and accuracy of the device.

Chapter 1 - Getting Started Before using the V500 for the first time, charge the battery for at least 4 hours. The battery should last approximately 8.5~12 hours under normal operation. To charge the V500, remove the back cover and insert the supplied rechargeable battery correctly as shown.

(1) Charge the device by connecting the USB cable to the charging port on V500 and your computer. (2) Charge the device with the supplied AC Wall Charger Adapter or an optional 12V Car Adapter.

2.2 V500 Main Screen Use “GPS” to get detailed information about satellite reception. Use “Record” to view your track, scorecard and analysis information. Use “Settings” to customize your individual preferences.

2.3.1 Hole-Layout and Hole-Info Screens Below are the descriptions of hole-layout and hole-info screen on each specific feature. Important! If a Color Layout for a specific course is not yet available from Sonocaddie, the device displays the “Hole-Info” screen by default.

Chapter 3 – How to start V500? 3.1 Start your V500 Step1: Register a V500 Member Account To use your V500 first time, you must have a V500 member account and internet access. Simply obtain a member at www.sonocaddie.com/V500/member.html select “Register.” Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the registration.

After completing the installation, please turn on V500 and connect the USB cable between V500 and computer (Please note that internet connection is required.), and then login your member information to start. Note: The login process must be operated in V500 device.
3.2 Adjust the V500 Settings The V500 has thirteen settings to customize your device. You can adjust the setting based on your preference. Language: English/ Traditional Chinese/ Simplified Chinese/ Deutsch/ French/ Spanish/ Japanese Time Zone: Set the correct time to your time zone (relative to Greenwich Mean Time-GMT).

Search course by selecting “Country”, “State” and “City”, and then you will see all the available courses within the area. Important! V500 performs best under a clear sky and with six satellite signals or more“ ”. (You can see the satellite reception on the left top of the main screen.)
4.2 Download New Courses The color course layouts in your country are preloaded in V500. If the courses you play are not in the device, please email to mappingV500@sonocaddie.com. We are pleased to map them for you. After we notify you that the course is available to download, please follow the steps below to download the course into your V500.

Step3: Search the “Country, State, and City” to get the course list and select the course you want to download. (NOTE: The course you download will be stored in the “My Course” folder.) Important! The storage of My Course for downloads: Up to 100 courses with color layouts and satellite imagery.

5.2 View Stored Information Select “Record” from “Main” menu to enter a course in date order to view the Track, Scorecard, and Score Analysis. V500 stores scorecards you played for up to 100 rounds. 5.2.1 Track Your Game Feature Auto Track Only Turn Auto Track on from “Settings”...

Shot Track Only “Shot Track” records your specific shot locations as you play. (You must manually record shot locations as you play.) Auto Track & Shot Track This records both Auto track and Shot Track. Important! Shot Track & Auto Track only work if the course has a “Color Layout”...
5.2.2 Use the Digital Scorecard The “Normal” scorecard records your strokes only by hole and provides a total for the front nine (out), back nine (in) and 18-hole round. The “Pro” scorecard records your strokes, putts, fairways hit, and sand saves by hole.
Chapter 6 – Editing an Existing Course With the V500, you can also make instant changes to the given course information right on the spot. Important! You can only edit the course which is downloaded...
Note that the green center is automatically calculated by V500 based on the recorded front and back points. Each green has two additional green-side targets to display a visual marker. These...
Important! To use the Edit feature, you must be on the course and the Sonocaddie should have good satellite reception (six or more satellites). Step 1: Select “More” and then “Edit” to view the Edit Screen.

Step 4: Press “Back” to view the changes on Hole-Layout screen. Important! Before choosing the target, be sure you stand still for five seconds at the target location so the V500 can pin-point that position.
6.4 Delete a Target on a Hole Deleting a target is simple and you don’t have to be on the course. From any hole on the V500, select “More” and then “Edit” to view the Edit Screen, and select the Target Icon you want to delete. When the “Icon Screen”...
“Delete All” to delete all courses in the course list Important! Deleting or renaming a course only deletes/renames courses from your “My Course” folder. It does not delete any Scorecards stored in the V500 so you can still review these at any time.
7.2 Rename a Course From the “Main” menu, select “My Course” to see the course list screen. Select a course and press “More” to see the options. Select “Rename” and edit it with the screen keyboard. After renaming the course, select “Done” to save the changes. 7.3 Create a New Course Creating a new course map works just like the edit process in Chapter 6.3, except the Edit Screen is...
7.3.1 Name the New Course To create a new course which is not in Sonocaddie database, open “My Course”, select “More”, and then select “Map New”. Enter a new course name with screen keyboard. The backspace key ( ) on the keyboard can erase letters.

Before pressing any target, be sure you stand still for five seconds at the reference point location so the V500 can pin-point that position. After you select record, the distance reading immediately changes to “0” to accurately record this location.
