3. POWER SUPPLY The FX1000 is powered through the USB cable from a computer or from the power adapter AC/DC “ADS 0510/USB” ( Vdc =5,2V / I = 1A). Such equipment is compliance with the national and international Standards on electrical safety. 5. CONNECTIONS Introduction Farfisa FX1000 is a MIDI expander. Connecting it to a PC via USB cable or via MIDI it is possible to listen music. What is MIDI? The acronym MIDI is the abbreviation of "Musical Instrument Digital Interface" and represents a stan- dard for the transmission of data via cables between an electronic musical instrument and a personal computer or another electronic musical instrument. The General Midi (GM) system This expander adopts the General Midi (GM) system, a standard which allows users to receive or send data in MIDI format to a personal computer or to another keyboard without compatibility problems between musical instruments of different brands. The FX1000 is equipped with a USB-MIDI plug for connection to the personal computer and with a MIDI-In socket to receive MIDI data from a keyboard or a MIDI device with a MIDI Out socket. The connection takes place using the USB cable (supplied) or a MIDI cable (not supplied) as shown in the next examples. Connection of the FX1000 to a Personal Computer a. If "USB Speakers_2" ("FX1000_2" for Windows 7) is selected, MIDI data will be played by channels 17-32. The data sent via MIDI (with MIDI socket) will be played by channels 1-16. Midi Channels Midi socket USB Midi socket 1 - 16 USB Speakers - FX 1000 17 - 32 USB Speakers (2) - FX 1000 (2) Setting Midi Out in Program Farfisa Vintage On the internet site www.farfisa.eu it is possibile to download the program "Farfisa Vintage", a utility to transform your FX1000 in a "Vintage keyboard" with Drawbars organs, Farfisa Combo Compact, Farfisa Synth Maker etc. When you use "Farfisa Vintage" please select "USB Speakers" ("FX1000" for Windows 7) as Midi Out device in menu "Midi out". If the Midi device "USB Speakers" ("FX1000" for Windows 7) is in use by another application you can select "USB Speakers (2)" ("FX1000_2" for Windows 7) and push the button "RESET EXPANDER". -

Downloading and installing "Farfisa Vintage" 1. In Downloads section of the site www.farfisa.eu please download the program "FarfisaVintage.exe". 2. Run the program and follow the instructions for automatic installation. 3. After the installation in Windows Program menu a sub-folder "Farfisa" will appear. The link to "Farfisa Vintage" will allow you to launch the program. Startup and configuration Before you launch "Farfisa Vintage" please close all applications on PCs using MIDI devices. -

Farfisa Drawbars and Rotator Another type of very popular organs in the '60s was the "Drawbars" organ. In a "Drawbars" organ several sinusoids of different frequencies are summed. 3. ALIMENTAZIONE L’FX1000 si alimenta in due modi: 1. Dalla presa USB nel collegamento con un computer. 2. 6. FARFISA VINTAGE Il programma “Farfisa Vintage” Nel corso degli anni FARFISA ha prodotto alcuni strumenti musicali che hanno contribuito a fare la storia della musica. Con il “Compact” o con il “synthorchestra” hanno suonato i più famosi tastieristi e i più famosi gruppi musicali. Oggi Farfisa ripropone con moderne tecnologie digitali quei suoni attraverso l’expander FX1000 e le tastiere di nuova generazione. In particolare “Farfisa Vintage” è un programma scritto per rendere facilmente accessibili i suoni e le prestazioni degli strumenti “Vintage” contenuti all’interno dell’expander FX1000. Download e installazione di “Farfisa Vintage” 1. Nella sezione Download del sito www.farfisa.eu scaricare il programma “FarfisaVintage.exe” 2. All’avvio del programma il canale midi di riferimento di “FARFISA Vintage” è il canale 1. Se la propria tastiera connessa via Midi all’FX1000 invia le note su canali Midi diversi, è necessario impostare il cana- le corretto utilizzando il menu a tendina (MIDI CHANNEL) accanto al logo “FARFISA VINTAGE” in basso a destra. Ad esempio, se la tastiera invia le note sul canale 4, impostare il canale 4 come mostrato in figura: Il pulsante “RESET EXPANDER” inizializza i parametri del modulo FX1000 come all’accensione. Il potenziometro "FINE TUNING" consente di accordare finemente il modulo FX1000.
