5-1 BASE UNIT ASSEMBLY

A. Fasten the mast struts to fronts of strong-
backs using 7/8 x 3" bolts, nuts and jamnuts. Leave
nuts just loose enough to allow struts to pivot.
Tighten jamnuts securely.
B. Remove fasteners from the pivot arm and
yoke halves. Assemble the pivot arm link to the
yoke halves using 5/8" x 2" capscrews, bushings
and locknuts as shown in Figure 5-2. The yoke
halves will be fastened later to the strongbacks
using the same 5/8" x 2" capscrews that fasten the
tailwheel frame to the strongbacks.
C. Install caster fork and wheel assembly onto
tailwheel frame securing with roll pin.
D. Attach adjusting strap to cutter deck using a
5/8 x 1-1/2" bolt, lockwasher and nut.
E. Attach tailwheel asembly and yoke halves to
cutter deck using two 5/8 x 2" bolts, bushings, flat-
washers and locknuts. Do not overtighten nuts to
allow assembly to pivot.
F. Secure tailwheel assembly to adjusting strap
using a 5/8 x 1-1/2" bolt, lockwasher and nut.
G. Attach driveline to gearbox using a 1/2 x 3"
Grade 2 bolt and locknut - supplied in gearbox shaft.
H. Fill gearbox with 18 ozs. EP80W-90 gear oil.
5-2 FRONT AND REAR SHIELDING
INSTALLATION
A. Attach rear chain assemblies to rear of cutter
using 14 3/8 x 1" bolts, flatwashers, and locknuts.

B. Attach front chain assembly to front of cutter
using (9) 3/8 x 1" bolts, (18) flatwashers, and (9) lock-
nuts. (Figure 5-4)
