Frequently Asked Questions

After adjusting the camera settings using the menu, I don't
have any video. What might have gone wrong?
Check that the LENS is set to DC on the menu, as this is the only
type of lens that is currently supported.
There appears to be blurred motion on the video. How do I
turn this off?
Go to DSS and change it to OFF.
It is dark outside, but the camera is still in day mode, and
the IR LEDs are not on.
Change the LUX LEVEL DIP Switches to a higher level (Steps 1 or
2). This will force the camera to switch over to night mode at a
higher light setting.
Also confirm that there is no external light source nearby that may
be in the view of the camera and/or the light sensor on the front of
the camera.
When the camera goes into night mode, the picture is
over exposed, as there is too much IR Light. How do I
reduce the intensity of the IR Light?
Adjust the LED LEVEL adjustment screw by rotating it counter-
clockwise to reduce the intensity.
I have the camera set to the widest field of view, but in
night mode the middle portion of the picture is brighter
than the edges. Is this normal?
Yes, the 2.8–10mm lens has a wider field of view than the infrared
LEDs can project, and therefore, the center will be brighter than
the edges. You can reduce the angle of view of the lens using the
zoom and focus controls or reduce the intensity of the IR LEDs as
described above.
I need to detect objects moving beyond the edge of
illumination. How can I increase the camera's low light
sensitivity?
Set the DSS control to Auto and choose X2, X4 or X8 on the
setting. This will improve the detection of faraway objects that may
be out of range of the IR LEDs. There may be slight motion blur of
fast moving objects.
