Let the dishwasher run through one fill and pump out cycle, then let the dishwasher fill with water the second time. When you hear the water stop filling, unlatch the door and slowly open it.

The top rack is best for glasses, cups and saucers. Cups . . . and glasses fit best along the sides. This is the place for dishwasher-safe plastics, too. Make sure small plastic items are lodged in tightly so they can’t fall onto the Calrod@ heating unit.

Distribute evenly. Small plastic items, such as measuring spoons and lids from small containers, are not recommended for automatic dishwashing. If placed in the dishwasher, they should go in the bottom of the silverware basket with the silverware on top.
