The memory setting is not stored when the power goes off on the Onkyo TX-SR503 if the backup system has not been charged. The AV receiver uses a battery-less memory backup system that requires the unit to be plugged into an AC outlet to charge. Without sufficient charge, settings may be lost during a power outage.

To connect speakers to the Onkyo TX-SR503 using the color-coded speaker terminals:
1. Strip the speaker cables: - For Speaker Set A: Strip 5/8" (15 mm) of insulation from the cable ends. - For Speaker Set B: Strip 3/8" (10 mm) of insulation.
2. Attach color-coded labels: - Attach the supplied color-coded label to the positive (+) side of each speaker cable, following this table: - Front Left: White - Front Right: Red - Center: Green - Surround Left: Blue - Surround Right: Gray - Surround Back Left: Brown - Surround Back Right: Tan
3. Connect the wires to the terminals: - For screw terminals: Unscrew, insert bare wire fully so it touches metal, then tighten. - For lever terminals: Press the lever, insert the wire into the hole, then release.
4. Match colors: Connect each labeled wire to the terminal with the matching color.
