The start/stop system in a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu operates automatically and does not require manual activation. When driving, if the brake is applied and the vehicle comes to a complete stop, the system may automatically turn off the engine (Auto Stop). The tachometer will display "AUTO STOP." Releasing the brake or pressing the accelerator will restart the engine.
