OPERATOR’S MANUAL EDGER / TRENchER UT45100 Your edger has been engineered and manufactured to Homelite’s high standard for dependability, ease of operation, and operator safety. Properly cared for, it will give you years of rugged, trouble-free performance. WARNING: To reduce the risk of injury, the user must read and understand the operator’s manual before using this product.
“W-A” or “W”. These cords are rated for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electric shock. Store idle edger indoors – when not in use store in dry, and high or locked up place out of reach of children.
Don’t grasp the exposed cutting blades or cutting edges when picking up or holding the edger. Don’t Force Edger – It will do the job better and with less likelihood of a risk of injury at rate for which it was designed.
Use this edger for edging along sidewalks, driveways, and flower beds. Do not use for any other purpose. Do not use the edger on or near graveled surfaces. If the edger strikes any type of foreign object: a) Stop the edger and disconnect from the power supply.

DOUBLE INSULATION Double insulation is a concept in safety in electric power tools, which eliminates the need for the usual three- wire grounded power cord. All exposed metal parts are isolated from the internal metal motor components with protecting insulation. Double insulated tools do not need to be grounded.
RETAINER A convenient cord retainer helps keep the extension cord connection secure during tool operation. FRONT hANDLE For ease of operation, the edger is equipped with a front handle. UNPAcKING This product requires assembly. Carefully remove the product and any accessories from the box.
ThE POLES See Figure . Before using the edger, a one-time assembly is required. When removed from the box, the two poles are connected by an electrical cord as shown above. Remove packaging material from cord and discard.
USING ThE EDGER When using the edger, hold the unit with your right hand on the rear handle and your left hand on the front handle. Keep a firm grip with both hands while in operation. The edger should be held at a comfortable position with the handle about hip height.
Chemicals can damage, weaken, or destroy plastic, which may result in serious personal injury. Stop the motor and unplug the edger whenever you leave the operating position. Unplug the edger before unclog- ging the blade guard or when making a repair, adjustment, inspection, etc.
