The Freecom DVD RW Recorder is always powered, even if the USB cable is disconnected from your computer. Therefore, please turn o the Freecom DVD RW Recorder if it is not used. The power switch is on the back side of the Freecom DVD RW Recorder.

Freecom DVD RW Recorder into the USB port of your computer. Your Freecom DVD RW Recorder is fully backwards compatible with USB 1.1. The instal- lation for USB 1.1 is the same as described below for USB 2.0.
To install the application software, insert the "Application" CD, klick "Software Installation" and select your application software. Follow the instructions on screen. Using the Drive Chapter : Using the Drive How to Use the Discs Attention! When using CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW or DVD R/RW discs, don’t attach any stickers or labels to the discs. Using discs with them attached not only causes read and write errors, but data on the disc may be lost due to damage to the disc itself.

Freecom DVD RW Recorder . Emergency Eject This drive has a function that allows the CD/DVD to be ejected manually if this becomes necessary in an emergency such as failure of the drive or a power outage. Follow the following procedures in such a case. Don’t use this feature except in an emergency.

Safe Use of External Drive CAUTION ! Never store a external drive in a locked and unventilated vehicle, (where excessive internal temperatures may be encountered). Never place a external drive on top of (or adjacent to) a heating device, and never expose it to direct sunlight, to prevent external drive malfunction or damage to the battery pack or other components.

Always store a CD or DVD in its case when it is not in use, to protect its surface from scratches or contaminants. A CD Drive or DVD Drive may be unable to read the data correctly if the surface of the disk is scratched or contaminated.
Always avoid using the external drive in dusty environments, since dust particles can affect the reliability of the external drive. Always contact an authorized Freecom service provider, if your external drive has become contaminated with dust or dirt particles. BATTERY PACK...

Safe Use of External Drive WARNING ! Never allow leaking caustic electrolyte from the battery pack to contact your eyes, body or clothing. • If caustic electrolyte from the battery pack should contact your eyes, immediately wash your eyes with large amounts of running water and obtain prompt medical attention, to help prevent permanent eye damage.
The use of a worn or damaged power cord or plug could result in electric shock or fire. Always contact an authorized Freecom service provider immediately, to obtain a suitable replacement. Never attempt to connect or disconnect a power plug with wet hands, to prevent a possible electric shock.
Always use the Freecom AC adaptor that have been provided with your external drive, or use authorized Freecom alternate models, to avoid any risk of fire or other damage to the external drive. Bodily injury or property damage will occur as a result of the use of an unauthorized and incompatible AC adaptor, in violation of this warning.
Freecom Safety Manual CAUTION ! Never place an AC adaptor on a wooden surface (or any other surface that could be marred by exposure to heat) while it is in use, since its surface temperature increases during normal use. Always rest it on a suitable heat- insulating material.

The intensity levels of those ELF emissions however, even in close proximity to the AC adaptor and its associated AC power cord, is relatively low in comparison to those of other common household appliances.

Only peripherals complying with the FCC limits may be attached to this equipment. Operation with non-compliant peripherals or periph erals not recommended by Freecom is likely to result in interference to radio and TV reception. Shielded cables must be used between the external devices, USB port, and microphone jack.
