Brunner Printing "Presses" on for Nearly 80 Years.
In today's fast paced marketplace, ideas
and technologies are constantly evolv-
ing. Keeping up with these changes in this
fiercely competitive economy can mean
the difference between success and failure
for most businesses. Today we rarely hear
about family-owned businesses that have
survived decades by adopting growth, in-
novation and leadership as the cornerstones
of their growth strategies. Brunner Printing
in Memphis, Tennessee, has been going
strong for almost eighty years and boasts a
history as rich as their southern roots.
A rich History
Brunner, Inc., was founded by Francis J.
Brunner in 1930, and was incorporated in
1932 with just two employees. During its
first 19 years the company grew, slowly
but steadily, as a job printer, until 1949.
That same year Mr. Brunner decided to of-
fer creative design services directly to his
customer. The company was fast becoming
known as a "creative printer". One inter-
PrINT & SeW
esting fact is that a bicycle was used for
several years as Brunner's free pick up and
delivery service. Today, they continue that
personal touch of customer service as they
grow to become one of the oldest printers
in Memphis. And yes, pick up and deliv-
ery is still free.
Francis Brunner knew there was a market
in the area for a printer offering creative
design services. He hired a freelance artist
and began preparing layouts, initially just
for letterheads, submitting these as a sales
aid when calling on a customer or prospect.
Each design sold opened the door for new
business, since it was used on statements,
envelopes, business cards and other mate-
rials.
As the result of a monthly mailing, his
business grew tremendously and had to
hire extra employees to produce the jobs.
This was followed by a thrust into the
product sheet and promotional materials
area. A series of self-mailers and advertis-
ing pieces was developed for clients and it
was a tremendous success.
Brunner Printing Today
Brunner was off and running. In 1962,
the company moved to its current location.
They now offer a full staff of salespeople,
graphic artists, and a production crew with
over 100 years of combined experience
Their founder's creative touch and seven-
pronged sales approach has evolved into
today's creative planning, electronic pre-
press, skilled presswork, bindery, color
copies, in-house screen printing, and as-

sorted advertising specialty items–all from
one source and all geared to providing
customers with the ultimate in printing ser-
vices.
GT-541 Boosts Sales
Ronnie Brunner is the current President,
having succeeded his father, and is always
on the lookout for products that would help
him grow the business and to keep pace
with new technology. Recently they joined
the digital age by purchasing a Brother
GT-541 on-demand inkjet garment printer.
Business has been steadily increasing ever
since.
"This is one of the best pieces of equip-
ment we've purchased for our business.
We get a lot of walk-in traffic and people
are just amazed at what the GT-541 can
do...and how fast it is! They love the vi-
brant colors and soft feel, and especially
the benefit of being able to wait for their
order," said Ronnie.
Formula for Success
Ronnie attributes his success and great
reputation to being very quality conscious
and standing behind what they do 100%.
"We've been thrilled with every aspect of
the GT-541, from its ease of use and low
maintenance to its cost effectiveness. It's
helping to drive more business to our doors,
so it's definitely an asset to our business,"
said Ronnie. Ronnie continues to work with
his wife, younger brother Paul, and six ad-
ditional employees. For more information,
