When adding the engine oil, be careful not to fill
above the "H" level mark on the oil level
gauge/dipstick.

Make sure that no foreign material enters the
engine oil tank.

7. Insert the oil level gauge/dipstick into the oil filler
hole, and then tighten it securely.
8. Connect the oil level gauge coupler.
9. Install the right side cover.

Coolant

Checking the coolant level
1. Remove the top cover and the right upper cover. (See
pages 8-5–8-8 for removal procedures.)
2. Check the coolant level in the coolant reservoir when
the engine is cold. If the coolant level is below the
"COLD LEVEL" mark, add soft water until it reaches
the "COLD LEVEL" mark. (See pages 8-14–8-15 for
more details.)

Do not remove the coolant reservoir cap when the
engine is hot.

Hard water or salt water is harmful to the engine
parts. You may use boiled or distilled water, if soft
water is not available.

Tap water can be used temporarily in an emer-
gency.

3. Install the right upper cover and the top cover.
