    Step 2 - Power up Your Drive Connecting the Ethernet Cable Press the button on the front of your Maxtor Shared Storage Plus drive. 1. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into your network, router or switch. Your drive will now start. The startup process can take up to one minute to complete.
