If this unit fails to operate normally, check the following points to determine whether the fault can be corrected by the
simple measures suggested. If it cannot be corrected, or if the fault is not listed in the symptom column, disconnect the
power cord and contact your authorized YAMAHA dealer or service center for help. When receiving service, other Piano
Craft components you are using together with this unit may be needed.
Symptom
This unit does not work normally.
Tape does not move during playback
or recording.
Cannot record.
Sound is distorted or fades out.
Poor sound quality
Stereo balance is poor.
Excessive noise
Tape travel stops in the middle of
playback or recording.
The synchronized recording function
does not work.
Cannot search for the beginning of
desired track of the tape
Maintenance
Dirty heads, capstans, and pinch rollers can cause poor sound and tape jams. Clean these parts with a commercially
available cleaning tape.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Cause
There is an influence of strong external noise
(lightning, excessive static electricity, etc.) or a
misoperation was performed while using the
unit.
Slack tape wrapped around pinch roller.
Erasure prevention tab is broken off.
Head is dirty.
Head is dirty.
Tape is worn.
The DOLBY NR type is not correct.

Remedy
Turn this unit to the Standby mode and disconnect the
AC power cord from the wall outlet. After about 30
seconds have passed, connect the power and try again.
Take up slack with a pencil before using.
Replace tape or cover erasure prevention hole with
adhesive tape.
Clean heads.

Replace the tape.
Select an appropriate DOLBY NR type. The same
noise reduction type should be used both on recording
and playback.

Demagnetize heads with head eraser.

system control cable firmly.
The function of searching for the beginning of a
