The hard disk drive mechanism is designed as a subassembly for installation into a suitable enclosure and
is therefore not subject to Subpart J of Part 15 of FCC Rules (47CFR15) or the Canadian Department of
Communications Radio Interference Regulations. Although not required, the disk mechanism has been
tested within a suitable end-use product and found to comply with Class B limits of the FCC Rules and
Regulations of the Canadian Department of Communications.
The CE Marking indicates conformity with the European Union Low Voltage Directive (73/23/EEC)
when the disk mechanism is installed in a typical personal computer. Maxtor recommends that testing
and analysis for EMC compliance be performed with the disk mechanism installed within the user's
end-use application.

This digital apparatus does not exceed the Class B limits for radio noise emissions from digital apparatus
as set out in the radio interference regulations of the Canadian department of communications.
