CONNECTING THE DRYERTO HOUSEVENT
RIGIDMETAL TRANSITION DUCT
• Forbest drying performance,a rigid metal transition duct is
recommended.
• Rigidmetal transitions ducts reducethe risk of crushing and
kinking.
UL-LISTED FLEXIBLE METAL (SEMI-RIGID) TRANSITION DUCT
• If rigid metal duct cannot be used,then UL-listedflexible metal
(semi-rigid) ducting can be used(KitWX08XZ0077).
• Never installflexible metal duct in walls,ceilings,floors or
other enclosedspaces.
• Total length of flexible metal duct shouldnot exceed8 feet
(2.4m).
• Formany applications,installing elbows at both the dryer
and the wall is highly recommended(seeillustrations below).
Elbowsallow the dryer to sit closeto the wall without kinking
and or crushing the transition duct, maximizing drying
performance.
• Avoid resting the duct on sharp objects.

• in special installations,it may be necessaryto connectthe
dryerto the housevent usinga flexible metal (foil-type)duct.
A UL-listedflexible metal (foil-type)duct may be usedONLY
in installationswhere rigid metal or flexible metal (semi-rigid)
ducting cannot be usedANDwhere a 4" diameter can be
maintained throughout the entire length of the transition
duct.
• in Canadaand the United States,onlythe flexible metal (foil-
type) ducts that complywith the "Outlinefor ClothesDryer
TransitionDuct Subject2158A"shall be used.
• Never installflexible metal duct in walls,ceilings,floors or
other enclosedspaces.
• Total length of flexible metal duct shouldnot exceed8 feet
(2.4m).
• Avoid resting the duct on sharp objects.
• Forbest drying performance:
1.Slideone end of the duct over the clothes dryer outlet pipe.
2.Securethe duct with a clamp.
3.With the dryer in its permanent position,extend the duct to
its full length. Allow 2"of duct to overlapthe exhaustpipe.
Cut off and remove excessduct. Keepthe duct as straight
as possiblefor maximum airflow.
4. Securethe duct to the exhaust pipewith the other clamp.

ALCOVE OR CLOSET INSTALLATION
•If your dryer is approvedfor installationin an alcove or closet,
it will be stated on a label on the dryer back.
• The dryer MUSTbe vented to the outdoors.Seethe EXHAUST
INFORMATION sections3 & 4.
• Minimumclearance between dryer cabinet and adjacent walls
or other surfacesis:
0 in. either side
3 in. front and rear
• Minimumvertical space from floor to overheadcabinets,
ceiling, etc.is 52 in.
• Closetdoors must be Iouveredor otherwiseventilated and
must contain a minimum of 60 sq. in.of open area equally
distributed. If the closet contains both a washer and a dryer,
doors must contain a minimum of 120sq. in. of open area
equally distributed.

• The dryer MUST be vented to the outdoors. See
EXHAUSTINFORMATION section 3 & 4.
• The instollation must conform with local codes or, in the
absence of local codes, with the NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
CODE, ANSI/NFPA NO. 70.

INSTALLATION
• installation MUSTconform to the MANUFACTURED HOME
CONSTRUCTION & SAFETY STANDARD, TITLE24, PART 32-80
or,when such standard is not applicable,with AMERICAN
NATIONAL STANDARD FORMOBILE HOME,ANSI/NFPA NO.
5018.
• Thedryer MUSTbe vented to the outdoors with the
termination securelyfastenedto the mobilehome structure.
(SeeEXHAUST INFORMATION section 3 & 4).
• Thevent MUSTNOTbe terminated beneath a mobileor
manufactured home.
• Thevent duct material MUSTBEMETAL.
• Donot usesheet metal screws or other fasteningdevices
which extend into the interior of the exhaustvent.
• Seesection 2 for electrical connectioninformation.
