This integrated solution takes advantage of utilizing the
embedded flag information in the MPEG stream and makes
the proper compensation for re-construction of the progres-
sive frame.
Auto:
This deinterlacing mode is controlled purely based on the
progressive/interlace flag information embedded in the bit-
stream. If the source is flagged as progressive, then the
"weave" method is used to deinterlace the film source. If
flagged as interlace, then the "bob" method is used. If both
progressive and interlace flags exist in the same bitstream,
then it will default to interlace source mode.
Film:
Regardless of the progressive/interlace flag information
embedded in the bitstream, the deinterlacer will always
assume the video source as progressive and process the
information by the "weave" deinterlacing methond.
Video:
Regardless of the progressive/interlace flag information
embedded in the bitstream, the deinterlace will always
assume the video source as interlace and process the infor-
mation by the "bob" filtering method.
Smart:
Regardless of the progressive/interlace flag information
embedded in the bitstream, the deinterlace will always
assume the video source as progressive.
Additional multi-tap vertical filtering is applied. Smart mode
is an excellent mode to use for progressive and interlaced
material with limited motion.
SSmart (Super Smart):
This mode enables the MPEG proprietary advanced pixel-
based motion-adaptive algorithm for high quality video dein-
terlacing. SuperSmart mode combines temporal and spatial
information with additional multi-tap medium filtering to
accurately reconstruct 480P/576P video from any source for-
mat. With the combination of flag reading and pixel-based
motion-adaptive processing, SmartScan accurately recre-
ates the most perfect progressive video to be displayed on a
480P/576P TV. This is the best mode to use for deinterlacing
interlaced or progressive source materal.
